Meter Math teaches students to read meters and determine system performance from readings. Student must determine if a system failure indication is simply result of a bad meter or if a functional block has actually malfunctioned. Each functional block is defined by a transfer function ranging from simple arithmetic to logarithmic and exponential functions. Digital troubleshooting of binary system is also included. Yellow Blocks perform a mathematical operation on analog input and generate an analog output. The mathematical operations performed by the yellow block are referred to as the transfer function.

Binary Block Diagram with Fault 1 Test Assembly S/N 101. observe reading at all eleven switch positions and localize failure to a block or a meter. If the problem is an analog meter determine if the problem is sensitivity, zero offset, or linearity. If digital meter is off try to localize failure to a bit. Meter M4 displays Bits 0 thru Bit 3. Meter M5 displays Bit 0 thru Bit 8. Bit 0 (right bit) is LSB (Least Significant Bit).
